The Louisiana Bridge Association (LBA) is the largest bridge club in the
greater New Orleans area. It is also the oldest, dating back to 1941.
The LBA is part of ACBL Unit 134, District 10 which has over 1,300 members,
ranging from new players with a few master points to Grand Life Masters
with over 10,000.
The
LBA bridge center is conveniently located in Metairie about eight (8)
miles from downtown New Orleans via Interstate 10. The bridge center,
formerly a restaurant, was purchased in 1991 and renovated. It was closed for fourteen (14) months and renovated again after sustaining significant damage during Katrina. The club has
a large, attractive playing area and kitchen facilities for club functions.
We have a large on-site parking lot that includes several handicapped
spaces.
The
LBA has scheduled games every day of the week. A number of games are specifically
for less experienced and new players. Open games are stratified to provide
master point opportunities for players at all levels. If you have questions,
game directors may be reached at 504.889.0869 from thirty (30) minutes
before until thirty (30) minutes after their games.
The
LBA is very interested in attracting new players to the game that gives
us so much enjoyment. Several new players have joined the LBA in recent
years. We have popular EZ-Bridge classes for beginners that run for several
weeks. No bridge experience is required at all. The first few sessions
are free and then there is a nominal charge. Most people who begin EZ-Bridge
enjoy it and complete the program. A number of our players who started
in the EZ-Bridge program are now life masters. EZ-Bridge is an option,
but may not be necessary, for players who are new to the LBA and have
played some bridge before.
We
have several bridge instructors who can provide private individual or
group lessons for a fee. Lessons are available at all skill levels. All
of our instructors are LBA members who also play regularly at the bridge
center.
Conventions
and tourism are major local industries. The LBA cordially invites visitors
to play at our bridge center. Click for directions and transportation
